Correcting Errors in VolleyWrite

VolleyWrite was designed with human error in mind.  There is an Undo button and a Manual Fix button to help you correct a mistake.

The Undo button should be used when the error has been detected right away.  Awarding a point to the wrong team is probably the most common mistake. For example, if the point is awarded to the team on the right by the scorer but then the team on the left is beckoned for serve. The obvious problem is that the scorer awarded the point to the wrong team, so she would click Undo, then click the Point button on the left.

Very few people can remember the actions in the correct order to re-enter them after hitting the Undo button multiple times.  Therefore, it should NOT be done!

When a mistake in a previous action is discovered, the scorer should get the R2 to stop play at the next dead ball and use the Manual Fix button.  The Manual Fix button displays a list of the actions in the current set and allows you to edit or delete an existing action or add a new action (i.e. you missed the libero entering the court).  You can also move actions up or down in the list.

You can go to the Manual Fix section on the Resources page at VolleyWrite.com to go through four (4) scenarios to practice using this feature.  The page includes videos which demonstrate the solution.

The Undo button should only be used if the error has been detected almost immediately. For example, if the point is awarded to the team on the right by the scorer but the team on the left is beckoned for serve. The obvious problem is that the scorer awarded the point to the wrong team, so she would click Undo, then click the Point button on the left.

Very few people can remember the actions in the correct order to re-enter them after hitting the Undo button multiple times. Therefore, it should NOT be done. The Manual Fix button should be used.

Scorers can go to the Manual Fix section on the Resources page at VolleyWrite.com to go through four Manual Fix scenarios to be more comfortable using this feature during a match.
